A Smethport man has been indicted by a Federal Grand Jury on charges of violating federal tax laws.
US Attorney Scott W. Brady announced the three count indictment against 48 year old Brian Gustafson on Tuesday. Gustafson had operated a number of businesses in the area including Priority Care Ambulance, Gus’s Guns, B.L. Gustafson Excavation, Brynwood Farm, and Brian Gustafson rentals.
Gustafson is accused of trying to hide personal and corporate bank accounts from the IRS, including closing a bank account known to the IRS and opening a new, non-disclosed account, then lying to agents when confronted about it.
If convicted, Gustafson could face 11 years in prison and a fine of $750,000.00.
