Two Cattaraugus County farmers are facing animal neglect charges.
According to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s office, an animal abuse investigation was opened after malnourished calves were discovered on the property of 51 year old Russell W. Ulmer of Franklinville. A bull with wire wrapped around its leg for a lengthy period of time was also discovered.
In an unrelated incident, 55 year old Daryl Oakes of Cherry Creek was charged with failure to provide sustenance for a cow that had been neglected at his farm in New Albion.
Both men were released with appearance tickets.
