A titan of local business has passed away
Harry Halloran, Jr., CEO and board chairman for American Refining Group, passed away at his home Saturday.
Halloran is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in civil engineering. After graduation, he entered the Augustinian seminary for four years and earned an MA in theology. In 1997, Halloran purchased the historic Bradford refinery and is credited with revitalizing the facility, company, and brand.
Halloran served as a Trustee of Villanova University, College of Commerce and Finance and Trustee of The Academy of Natural Sciences, Philadelphia, PA.
Mr. Halloran was also a pioneer in the US wind industry having founded businesses in the wind development and operations, wind technology, and wind services sectors. Halloran served on the Board of and was a past President of The American Wind Energy Association.
In 2007, Halloran established Halloran Philanthropies to promote human development and help create “The World We Want.” He was also the Founding Trustee of the Enlightened World Foundation and the Halloran Foundation. Under his leadership, ARG took the lead in funding educational programs and economic development in the area.
Harry Halloran was 82.
What a loss of a remarkable man who loved his, dear wife Kay, their, devoted children, and loving grandchildren! This is a man who never knew a stranger. Harry’s heart and intelligence are immeasurable. The world is smaller without him. Harry, thank you for living and sharing your memorable life.
Harry was a great and good man. I was in the Augustinian seminary with Harry, and he always had a smile or joke to lighten our day. Thank you, Harry for your great life, and your love for the Augustinians and so many others.
