The state of NY will be providing $2 million in funds to renovate the Olean Center Mall. The funds will come as part of New York’s Regional Economic Development Council initiative.
The Olean Center Mall which was purchased from the Zamias Group of Johnstown, PA last year by developer Angelo Ingrassia, will undergo a phased renovation, which will include the construction of a 60-unit senior housing development with retail shops on the ground floor, interior renovations, office space and improvements to the parking lot and exterior of the building.
In addition to the funds allotted to the Mall renovation, the City of Olean will be receiving $90,000 in funds for the development, preservation and enhancement of the community in residential, commercial and industrial areas among others.
Another waste of tax payer funds. Just ask yourself why do we need more senior living and empty RETAIL stores in the middle of our aging low income city. We need to market the city and bring in jobs(factory) not retail. Plus what will this do to our tax base?
