A jury convicted a McKean County man with firearms charges Monday.
According to District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer, Ryan Christopher Forsythe was stopped on Campus Drive in Bradford Township on July 19, 2022. At that time he was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm. Forsythe is prohibited by statute from being in possession of a firearm. Additionally Forsythe did not have a concealed carry permit for the weapon.
Following a jury trial, Forsythe was convicted of Persons Not to Possess a Firearm, Carrying a Firearm without a license, and several code violations. The jury found that the firearm was loaded so a sentencing enhancement will be added as allowed under the sentencing code due to increased risk to law enforcement.
Forsythe is currently the subject of a bench warrant and sentencing will be scheduled after he is apprehended.
