The Wildfire in the Allegheny National Forest is nearing containment.
The Forest Service reported that at 2:00 Wednesday afternoon, the fire had been 90% controlled. The fire has been burning on 62 acres of Forest Service land on the eastern side of Allegheny Reservoir just north of Sugar Bay and west of Polly’s Run.
Crews are continuing fire suppression activities, and the public is once again advised to avoid the area.

Thank goodness! It will interesting to watch over the next several years as secondary succession takes place in that area.
