The granddaughter of a former Bradford chiropractor who was convicted of statutory rape in the 1970’s has made a film about her family’s story.
“Great Photo, Lovely Life,” by photojournalist Amanda Mustard, debuted last night on HBO. It documents the history of abuse in her family, including her grandfather Dr. William Flickinger.
Flickinger was working as a chiropractor in Bradford when he was first charged with statutory rape of a 12-year-old girl in 1975. After serving two years of a four-year sentence, Flickinger relocated to Harrisburg.
Mustard’s documentary is available on HBO, and streaming through its app Max.
Amazing documentary about one women’s crusade to find, and fix. Find answers to many questions of how did this happen, and why wasn’t it stopped. She tried so hard to fix and repair relationships, and broken souls. She carries the weight of two generations. I found myself crying for her sister, and wishing I could help fix.
I watched this documentary last night with my husband and a friend. The documentary was very well made. This story is one that needed to be told and should be watched by anyone who does not understand how abuse can damage generations. That it needs to be recognized and stopped. The punishments we have today are not enough. I connected to this story due to some similar situations in my life and my heart goes out to her and her sister and her mother, and the many victims of his abuse. He was a monster and there are more like him that need to be recognized and stopped before they hurt anyone else. I felt the healing in this film and you will continue to heal. Thankyou for making this documentary!
Lived in bradford my entire life..never heard of this before. Watched it…never interviewed one person from bradford

I’m watching this documentary and Amanda did an amazing job. She’s a savior and the one that was sent to heal, put the family together again. Amanda did not cut corners, she was so transparent. I can empathize with her grandmother because sometimes you lose yourself in people and before you know it, there’s no way. Her grandfather was a self serving person. When you listen to his voicemails it was me me me. No accountability whatsoever. Destroyed his family and so many children. I can’t imagine what they’re feeling right now. I pray that EVERYONE gets the healing they deserve.
Wow! Thank you for documenting your family’s story. It must have been so hard to take this difficult journey and heartbreaking for the victims. I hope this helps others who have been abused. May this documentary help your family heal.

I just listened to your mother about Angie and I can tell you from similar situations that your Mother is in Denial of your sisters abuse. Untill your mother can face her own abuse, then she will be able to face her responsibility in your sisters Abuse.
She is responsible because she put her in that home with her Dad,knowing full well of his crimes, including those against her.
