Next month’s Lunch & Learn Sponsored by Envision Benefits Group and Milestone Financial Advisors will be Tuesday, December 10 at 12 p.m., with Bob Forness, president and executive director of Olean Business Development. Join him as he discusses the “Come Home, Stay Home” campaign.
OBD has partnered with JCC Workforce Development and the Cattaraugus-Allegany Workforce Development Board on the “Come Home, Stay Home” campaign, which focuses on bringing former area residents or returning college students back to work in Olean.
This call-to-action is aiming to change the narrative around job opportunities available. According to their website, www.oleanbd.com/comehomestayhome, they estimate that over 1500 jobs will become available in the Olean area in the next 3-5 years. A “Find Jobs” tab can take you directly to job openings and applications at places like Cutco, Pierce Steel, and Great Lakes Cheese, with more coming soon.
The initiative’s campaign includes a series of videos, focusing on specific job sites in Olean and the overall campaign, as well as a series of articles on job opportunities.
“Things are changing, in fact, a renaissance is here,” they said in the launch video. “With [those] jobs comes growth and reinvention of a region,” they continued, “and a city that deserves it’s hero’s tale, reminding us that this community is about to reach its truest potential.”
“Come Home Stay Home” is proving to us that as long as our foundation as a community remains strong, we can build new pillars.
