A recall has been issued for more than 5 million above-ground pools sold at major retailers like Walmart, The Home Depot, BJ’s and Amazon.com.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a warning Monday to announce the recall of Bestway, Intex and Polygroup above-ground pools 48 inches and taller with compression straps running on the outside.
These straps created a foothold, allowing a child access to the pool that have previously caused nine children between the ages of 22 months and 3 years old to drown.
Owners of this type of pool should contact the company to request a repair kit to fix the issue and ensure that children cannot access the pool unattended, or drain the pool until the repair can be installed.
