Bradford Regional Medical Center (BRMC) and Olean General Hospital (OGH), Kaleida Health facilities, are proud to announce the winners of the 2025 August Star Awards. This month’s BRMC and OGH recipients were Carole McCormick and Mark Thornton, RN, respectively.
Carole McCormick, a house keeper in the environmental services department, has been with BRMC since 2023 and was honored as the BRMC August Star Award recipient.
“Carole is an incredible asset to our team at BRMC and consistently goes above and beyond for both residents and her fellow employees,” read her nomination. “She’s dedicated, hardworking and always brings a positive attitude and a smile to share. Even when faced with unexpected challenges, Carole never complains, she stays upbeat and shows her can-do spirit. Her reliability and team-first mindset are just a few of the reasons we all know we can count on her. Carole truly embodies what it means to be a team player. BRMC is lucky to have her on our team.”
Mark Thornton is a registered nurse working on second floor who joined OGH in 2022. He was the recipient of the OGH August Star Award.
“Mark is a true asset to our team, he is always willing to lend a hand, greet others with a smile and make the day better,” read his nomination. “He’s a knowledgeable, compassionate nurse who goes above and beyond for both his patients and coworkers. Mark is a strong advocate for those in his care, and many patients have shared how much they appreciate his kindness and attentiveness. You can always count on him, for a helping hand, encouragement or simply someone who shows up. Mark truly embodies what it means to be a team player and exceptional care provider.”
The Star Award is presented monthly to an employee who demonstrates outstanding performance and inspires the same in others. Staff members are nominated for exceptional customer satisfaction, continuous performance improvement, teamwork, communication, ownership/accountability and excellence through co-worker or patient nominations.
The following were also nominated for Star Awards at BRMC: Dianna Cox, LPN, general surgery and Michelle Snyder, LPN, pediatrics. OGH nominees were: Sommer Blackwell, RN, emergency department; Lindsey Carter, RN, emergency department; Conrad Gadson, environmental services; Derek Hittle, RN, emergency department; Tracy Marks, pharmacy; and Kanda Simpson, cardiopulmonary.
Star award recipients receive a chamber of commerce gift certificate, additional paid time off, a certificate of recognition and the star award parking spot.
