The Pennsylvania State Police are asking the public for information in the disappearance of a Lewis Run man back in 2000, offering a $5,000 reward.
Michael Joseph Auteri was reported missing after his black Toyota Celica was found abandoned on April 25, 2000, by the railroad near High Street Extension in Lewis Run Borough, though it had allegedly sat there for weeks.
Inside the car, troopers state they found a note that could be interpreted as a suicide note and it was noted Auteri attempted suicide in the past.
At the time of his disappearance, Auteri was wanted for questioning by the Coudersport Borough Police Department in connection with an alleged sexual assault.
Auteri was officially reported missing by PA Troopers after it was confirmed he had last been heard from on April 8, 2000.
Family members told investigators they’ve had no contact with him since he vanished.
The Pennsylvania State Police are urging anyone with information to call 1-800-472-8477 or submit a tip online at p3tips.com.
