The Massachusetts man who stole a Bradford Publishing Company truck and crashed it into the Holiday Inn Express building last October was sentenced in McKean County Court Thursday.
46-year-old John McWhinnie gave a statement at his sentencing, saying that he understands the severity of what he did, citing a drug and alcohol problem, and lamented that his relapse wiped out years of sobriety.
He was sentenced to 1 to 2 years in state prison with credit for 319 days served, to pay $300 dollars in court costs and fines, submit a DNA sample and pay the $250 fee, and to pay $25 a month in restitution- with the total restitution coming to more than $78,000.
