H. John Kent, owner of the Ellicottville Rodeo and the Nightmare Hayrides in Cattaraugus County, passed away on Tuesday.
He was born in Olean on April 18, 1952.
Kent started out as a self-employed landscaper and snow plower, later starting a horse riding stable on his farm.
This eventually morphed into the Ellicottville Rodeo, which he ran for 36 years, and the Nightmare Hayrides on Sommerville Street, which he ran for 34 years.
Memorials may be made to the Ellicottville-Great Valley Ambulance service or the Ellicottville Vol. Fire Dept.
He was 73-years-old.
