NYS DEC Entered Consent Order for Olean’s Sewer Discharge Issues

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has entered into a consent order with the Olean City government to expedite reducing their sewer overflow.

This order does hold the city accountable for past violations of its State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit and SSO discharges into the Allegheny River.

There’s also a schedule requiring completion of construction work to cease all discharges by November 30, 2028.
