For the first time in a decade, Bonnie women’s basketball is back in the postseason.
St. Bonaventure will host Drexel in the first round of the WNIT Thursday night at the Reilly Center — the program’s first postseason appearance since the 2015-16 season, and its first home postseason game since 2013-14.
Tipoff is set for six o’clock. The Bonnies come in at sixteen and fifteen on the year, while Drexel brings a strong twenty-one and ten record into Olean.
The Dragons aren’t coming in quietly. Drexel won twelve of its final fourteen regular season games and finished third in the Coastal Athletic Association. Their leading scorer, Amaris Baker, averages over nineteen points a game — second-best in the entire CAA.
But the Bonnies have home court, a hungry roster, and a crowd that has been waiting years for this moment.
Win Thursday night, and St. Bonaventure advances to face Middle Tennessee State in the second round.
It’s a shot at something this program hasn’t had in a long time — postseason momentum, postseason wins, and a reason to keep playing in March.
