The Pittsburgh Pirates closed out their home series against the Tampa Bay Rays in style on Sunday afternoon, taking the rubber game six-to-three at PNC Park to win the series.
It was a gem from Mitch Keller that set the tone. The right-hander went seven strong innings, surrendering just two earned runs on five hits while striking out five, needing only 89 pitches to do it. Keller picks up the win, lowering his ERA on the season to two-point-five-seven.
Offensively, Bryan Reynolds did the heavy lifting, driving in three runs to lead the Bucs. Spencer Horwitz and Nick Yorke each went deep, giving Pittsburgh three home runs on the afternoon.
Tampa Bay starter Shane McClanahan couldn’t make it out of the fifth, giving up four runs on eight hits before getting the hook.
The Pirates take the series and head to Texas to open a three-game set against the Rangers on Tuesday.
