The Bonnies are hitting the road this weekend looking to salvage some momentum as the Atlantic Ten regular season winds down.
St. Bonaventure — sitting at twelve and twenty-nine on the year and six and fifteen in A-Ten play — opens a critical three-game conference series today in Philadelphia against Saint Joseph’s, with first pitch set for three o’clock this afternoon.
The Bonnies have been battling all season, and the offense has been carried by junior third baseman Manuel Castro, who leads the team with a .344 batting average and seven home runs. Anthony Fernandez is right behind him at .331 and tops the squad with thirteen RBIs, while Chris Hoalcraft checks in at .294 with twelve RBIs of his own.
On the mound, David James leads the pitching staff with 49 strikeouts on the season, while Eamon Giblin owns the team’s best ERA at three-even. Bona will need all of that on the road this weekend.
Games two and three of the series are set for Saturday and Sunday — all three in Philadelphia against the Hawks.
