The New York Yankees keep on rolling.
Last night at Yankee Stadium, the Bombers took Game One of their series against the Texas Rangers — seven to four — rallying from an early three-to-one deficit to win their fifth straight. New York improves to a jaw-dropping 25-11, still the best record in all of baseball.
The offensive heroes? Cody Bellinger was the biggest story — going two-for-four with two doubles and three R-B-I’s. Third baseman Ryan McMahon homered and drove in two. Jazz Chisholm and Paul Goldschmidt each went deep as well. Texas started Jacob deGrom on the mound — and the former Cy Young winner actually had a decent night — seven strikeouts in six-plus innings — but the Yankees tagged him for six runs and two home runs to chase him from the game.
Reliever Brent Headrick picked up the win. David Bednar closed it out.
Tonight, the series continues at Yankee Stadium — first pitch at seven-oh-five Eastern. The Yankees send Will Warren to the hill — the righty is 4-0 on the year with a 2.39 E-R-A. Texas counters with Nathan Eovaldi, who is 3-4 with a 4.67 E-R-A.
