The Buffalo Sabres are in trouble in their second-round playoff series against the Montreal Canadiens.
Sunday night in Montreal, the Habs took Game Three, six to two — and it wasn’t that close. Montreal outshot Buffalo thirty-six to twenty-eight, dominated the faceoff circle at sixty-two percent, and went two-for-six on the power play while the Sabres were getting whistled repeatedly, racking up thirteen penalties on the night.
Buffalo did tie it up one-one after the first period — but Montreal came out flying in the second, scoring three unanswered goals to put it away. The Canadiens added two more in the third. Buffalo’s only answer was a single power play goal.
The series now sits at two games to one, Montreal’s favor. Game Four is Tuesday night — also in Montreal — with puck drop set for 7:00pm EDT.
