The Buffalo Sabres are back on even ground. Buffalo took Game Four in Montreal last night, three to two — tying the Eastern Conference Semifinal series at two games apiece. The Sabres dug deep after getting blown out in Game Three and answered the bell in a big way at the Bell Centre.
Buffalo trailed after the first period — Montreal grabbed two early — but the Sabres answered with three unanswered goals to close it out. Zach Benson delivered the game-winner on the power play, and Josh Doan was outstanding all night with two assists. Rasmus Dahlin contributed on the blue line with an assist and six blocked shots. The Canadiens out-shot Buffalo twenty-two to thirty, but Buffalo made every shot count — a shooting percentage of thirteen-point-six percent to Montreal’s six-point-seven.
Series tied. Two-two. Game Five is Thursday night in Buffalo at KeyBank Center — seven o’clock Eastern. It’s a best-of-three now.
