Day one of the murder trial against Thomas McElhattan ended early today as the prosecution and defense had agreed on stipulations of multiple facts of the case.
The prosecution’s case is to prove that the shooting death of 21-year-old Rebecca Hayes was premeditated while the defense’s case is that the shooting falls under a crime of passion.
The jury heard law enforcement officials testify on behalf of the prosecution, hearing McElhattan’s 911 call allegedly confessing to the shooting as well as body cam footage from the arrest & the initial investigation and a digital recreation of the crime scene.
Day two of the trial begins Monday morning.
