The Pittsburgh Pirates wrapped up their series in St. Louis yesterday with a statement win.
Pittsburgh took the finale 6-2 over the Cardinals, capping the road trip in style. Braxton Ashcraft was dominant on the mound — going seven strong innings, scattering just four hits, striking out nine, and surrendering only one earned run to pick up the win. Dustin May took the loss for St. Louis, giving up four earned runs in five and a third.
Offensively, the Bucs got contributions up and down the lineup — ten hits in all. Marcell Ozuna went two-for-four with two R-B-I’s. Brandon Lowe added a home run and knocked in a run. And catcher Henry Davis delivered a big blast as well.
The win gives Pittsburgh a series victory over St. Louis and keeps the Pirates rolling heading into a weekend set at Toronto.
