The New York Yankees wrapped up a highly successful six-game road trip in emphatic fashion Sunday afternoon — putting up 13 runs in a single inning against the Athletics and walking away with a 13-8 victory.
The big explosion came in the third inning. New York sent a flood of runners across the plate, blowing open what had been a three-nothing deficit. Ben Rice was the big catalyst — finishing the game with four RBI, while Cody Bellinger, Anthony Volpe, and Max Schuemann also drove in runs. Will Warren earned the win on the mound, going six innings and allowing just three runs.
The road trip finale gives the Yankees five wins in six games.
New York heads back to the Bronx this week to open a home series against the Cleveland Guardians beginning Tuesday night.
