The Pirates closed out their road trip with an absolute statement game in Oakland.
Pittsburgh hammered the Athletics 12-4 Wednesday night, pounding out 16 hits as a team — batting .381 on the night with a team OPS over 1000. Braxton Ashcraft was outstanding on the mound — six innings, just one earned run, seven strikeouts — picking up the win.
But the story was Ryan O’Hearn. Three for five, a home run, and six RBI — he drove in half the Pirates’ runs by himself. Bryan Reynolds added two hits and two RBI, Marcell Ozuna went deep, and Spencer Horwitz reached base four times with two doubles.
It’s a series win for Pittsburgh after dropping the opener, and a much-needed offensive eruption heading into a new series.
The Bucs now head to Colorado for a weekend set, opening Friday night in Denver.
