A Canandaigua teen was charged after a high-speed police chase ending in a crash through multiple cities in Cattaraugus County late Wednesday night.
Deputies of the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office charged 18-year-old Jonathan S. Pickles with Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle, Reckless Endangerment and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Pickles initially sped past deputies on I-86 in Carrollton at a high rate of speed, failing to stop for emergency lights and sirens.
Pickles allegedly continued at a high rate of speed on I-86 through the construction in Carrollton, Great Valley, and Salamanca, passing vehicles in the coned off area and on the right hand side of the road as well.
Pickles then exited at Exit 21 and crashed into a ditch, hitting multiple signs and the guardrail.
Pickles allegedly had a juvenile in the vehicle with him.
After being evaluated by EMS and transported to Olean General Hospital, Pickles was released on an appearance ticket and is due in the City of Salamanca Court at a later date for further proceedings. Pickles was also issued 13 uniform traffic tickets for return to the Town of Carrollton, Town of Great Valley, and City of Salamanca Courts at a later date.
