The Pirates completed the sweep Thursday afternoon at PNC Park, and it couldn’t have come at a better time.
Pittsburgh beat Seattle 5-1 behind a strong outing from Bubba Chandler — five-and-a-third innings, just one run allowed. Henry Davis and Brandon Lowe both went deep, with Davis driving in two and Lowe adding two RBI of his own. Gregory Soto and Mason Montgomery locked down the back end of the bullpen.
Three straight wins to close out the series gives Pittsburgh real momentum as the team hits the unofficial halfway mark of the season — eighty-one games down, eighty-one to go.
The Bucs open a weekend series with Cincinnati tonight, first pitch 6:40pm EDT. The radio pregame begins at 6:15pm on WESB Sports, B107.5FM.
