I was out at Nashville Superspeedway this weekend and let me tell you — this one didn’t go as planned. Sunday’s Borchetta Bourbon Music City Grand Prix got washed out by heavy rain right as the field was ready to go, and after sitting through delay after delay, IndyCar finally called it and pushed the whole thing to Monday afternoon.
So, I came back Monday, and the heat was just brutal — Triple-digit heat index – officials actually trimmed the race from 300 laps down to 225 because of the heat and humidity. Worth it, though. Alex Palou powered through the conditions to win his fifth race of the year, stretching his points lead in the championship. Josef Newgarden crossed second on his home turf, with teammate David Malukas rounding out the podium in third.
Not the smoothest weekend for IndyCar in Nashville, but a heck of a way to close it out. – Jay Harper
