A week into the Mike McCarthy era, the energy at Saint Vincent College has been noticeable. Practices have picked up in tempo compared to the Tomlin years, and Tuesday’s session got downright chippy — DK Metcalf and Roman Wilson both beat cornerback Jamel Dean for touchdowns in the same 11-on-11 period, though Dean answered late with two pass breakups in the two-minute drill. T.J. Watt’s even flashed in coverage, dropping into a zone and picking off a pass instead of rushing.
Injury-wise, safety Jalen Ramsey and cornerback Joey Porter Junior remain sidelined, though there’s optimism building each day. Preseason kicks off August 13th, giving this new-look coaching staff just over a week left to evaluate the roster before real bullets start flying.
