The Yankees bounced back in style Tuesday night, beating the Angels 7-to-3 at Angel Stadium. Gerrit Cole worked into the sixth inning, striking out six, and the offense provided plenty of support with 13 hits and three extra-base knocks. New York’s bullpen chipped in as well, holding Los Angeles to just three runs the rest of the way.
The Yankees improve to 78-and-60, holding firm in second place in the AL East. New York and the Angels wrap up the series tonight at nine-thirty-eight Eastern, with Cam Schlittler — the AL Cy Young frontrunner at 12-and-6 with a 2.09 ERA — on the mound opposite Los Angeles lefty Reid Detmers.
