The Pirates’ four-game winning streak came to an end Wednesday night, falling 5-to-4 to the Giants in 10 innings at PNC Park. Rafael Devers continued his torrid stretch with a solo homer off Bubba Chandler in the first, and San Francisco plated the go-ahead runs in the 10th off closer Camilo Doval. Pittsburgh fought back all night — Bryan Reynolds doubled and scored in the eighth to tie it, and Nick Gonzales opened the bottom of the 10th with an RBI single, but it wasn’t enough. Oneil Cruz extended his hitting streak to five games with an infield single that plated the tying run in the eighth.
Bubba Chandler went five innings, allowing three runs on five hits, and reliever Carmen Mlodzinski turned in a scoreless outing out of the bullpen.
The Pirates fall to 68-and-72 and turn to a bullpen game Thursday afternoon, with first pitch at twelve-thirty-five.
