The Pirates took two of three from the Angels at PNC Park, winning four straight series for the first time since 2024. Pittsburgh opened with a 1-to-nothing win Friday, dropped Saturday’s game 6-to-1, then closed it out Sunday with another 1-to-nothing shutout. Paul Skenes was the story of the finale — five-and-a-third scoreless innings, four hits, two strikeouts, earning his first win since July 19th and snapping a personal seven-start winless stretch. It was also Skenes’ first career start against the Angels, the team he grew up rooting for back home in Orange County. Henry Davis provided the only run the Pirates needed with his ninth homer of the season, and Mason Montgomery closed it out for his 10th save.
The Pirates are off today before opening a three-game series Tuesday night in Chicago against the AL Central-leading White Sox, with Bubba Chandler on the mound.
