Aaron Rodgers opened his final NFL season with a win, but it was T.J. Watt who stole the show in a 20-to-13 victory over the Falcons Sunday at Acrisure Stadium. Watt returned an interception 35 yards for a touchdown, added two sacks and three tackles for loss, and completely took over the fourth quarter.
Rodgers threw for 221 yards and a touchdown, connecting with Pat Freiermuth for a 6-yard score, and it’s the Steelers’ third straight season-opening win. Atlanta’s Bijan Robinson was excellent in defeat — 83 rushing yards plus eight catches for 90 yards and a touchdown — but two Cooper Rush interceptions, including Watt’s pick-six, proved decisive.
The Steelers improve to 1-and-0 and host Seattle next Sunday.
