Josh Allen delivered a historic performance in the Bills’ new home, throwing for 317 total yards and five touchdowns in a 41-31 win over Detroit Thursday night in the first regular-season game at Highmark Stadium. Buffalo raced out to a 21-nothing lead, but Detroit clawed back to take a 31-30 edge in the fourth quarter before Allen answered — a seven-play, 96-yard drive capped by a 34-yard touchdown strike to Joshua Palmer with 1:36 left. D-J Moore hauled in a 43-yard touchdown from Allen too, and the Bills converted 9 of 12 third downs while piling up 34 first downs.
Jared Goff matched him with 327 yards and four touchdowns for Detroit, but the Lions’ run game was shut down — Jahmyr Gibbs managed just 52 yards on the ground. The Bills improve to 2-and-0.
