Baseball results from the weekend now, and it’s a split story for our two AL and NL clubs. We start in Pittsburgh, where the Pirates completed a three-game sweep of the Kansas City Royals, capping it off with a 4-3 comeback win Sunday. Rafael Flores Junior was the hero, going 2-for-3 with a home run, including the go-ahead two-run shot in the eighth inning. Oneil Cruz also went deep — his 20th homer of the season — making him just the third player in Pirates history to post three separate 20-homer, 20-steal seasons. Closer Mason Montgomery locked down the save, his 16th of the year, extending a scoreless streak that’s now up to 24 straight appearances.

It wasn’t as kind a weekend for the Yankees, who dropped their series in Arizona two games to one. New York actually won the opener behind a Ben Rice home run, but the Diamondbacks answered back, and Sunday’s finale got away from the Yankees late. New York built an early 4-1 lead on solo shots from Heliot Ramos, George Lombard Junior, and Spencer Jones — but Arizona’s Nolan Arenado blew the game open with a fifth-inning grand slam, and the Diamondbacks held on for an 8-4 win to take the series.
