Jury selection began Tuesday for the federal death penalty case against the man responsible for the racially motivated mass shooting at the Jefferson Avenue Tops back in 2022.
Payton Gendron is already serving a life sentence after pleading guilty to the mass murder in NY State Supreme Court.
The jury selection process isn’t expected to finish until late November.
Testimony is expected to formally begin in early December with the penalty phase potentially not beginning until February 2027.
