Freddy Peralta was dominant, and the Rays took advantage of a José Ramírez error to beat the Guardians 3-1 Tuesday night at Tropicana Field. The American League Championship Series is tied at a game apiece.
Peralta pitched six scoreless innings with six strikeouts on ninety-nine pitches, and his fastball touched ninety-nine point four miles an hour. Cleveland starter Parker Messick gave up no earned runs.
In the fourth, a Ben Williamson grounder went through Ramírez’s legs, and Tampa Bay scored first. Then catcher Liam Hicks came up with two runners on.
All three Tampa Bay runs were unearned. Chase DeLauter’s RBI double in the seventh was Cleveland’s only run, and Bryan Baker closed it out in the ninth.
The series moves to Cleveland. Game Three is Thursday at 6:00pm Eastern.
