The Penguins have a win to talk about. Pittsburgh blanked the Florida Panthers, four-to-nothing, Thursday night, ending a four-game losing streak from a Western road trip.
Arturs Silovs stopped twenty-six shots for his second shutout of the season. Nick Robertson scored twice, including an empty-netter, and Hendrix Lapierre made it two-nothing in the second period. Early in the third, Evgeni Malkin made it three-nothing, his third goal in four games.
Malkin and Lapierre each had a goal and an assist, and Connor Dewar added two assists.
Florida started Cooper Black in his NHL debut. At six-foot-nine, he’s the tallest goalie ever to play a regular-season game. The Panthers, playing the second night of back-to-back games, were shut out for the first time this season.
The Penguins host Nashville Saturday.
