UPDATE: 5/30 2 PM with information about Wortman
One of the two men killed when a homemade plane crashed in Western New York on Sunday was a disgraced fertility expert accused of impregnating women with his own sperm.
The Orleans County sheriff’s office says 72-year-old Morris Wortman of Rochester was killed when the wings came off his homemade plane causing it to crash on Townline Road in the town of Yates just before 5:45 Sunday evening. 70-year-old Earl Luce, Jr., of Brockport was also killed in the crash.
Wortman was a gynecologist from Rochester accused of using his own sperm to inseminate women instead pre-planned or anonymous donations. Victims alleged that they took DNA tests and discovered they had had half-siblings that led back to Wortman.
