New Bench in Olean Honors Former Police Chief Luty

The City of Olean unveiled a new bench in the Municipal Building plaza Wednesday in honor of the late Olean Police Chief Michael Luty.

Luty served as police chief for 25 years, retiring in 1993 and was a founding member of the Western New York Police Chief’s Association.

After Luty died on Nov. 10, 2023, members of his family offered to purchase the bench in his memory and requested they place it near the Olean Municipal Building.
