Tonight (November 22) in Pittsburgh, the Penguins are up against one of, if not the best team in the National Hockey League-that would be the Winnipeg Jets. It’s the first of two back-to-back games. The Penguins, in their last two games, blowing late-game leads and ending up losing both games. So, for head coach Mike Sullivan, defense has been a priority in practice this week.
“You know we had a film session this morning that was specifically focused on defensive zone coverage and our ability to get pucks stopped and get out of our end so we spend less time there, said Sullivan. “And so in some of the details around that. So usually when whatever the theme is in our film sessions, we try to bring it on the ice and practice and give them repetitions in the in what they saw so that hopefully it’ll translate to to the games. Sullivan continued, “And it’s an area of our game where we know we gotta get better if we’re gonna if we’re gonna get better results. And so that’s something that we worked on today. We wanted to get better in that specific area. And so, that was both the film session and the practice., the main theme around it.”
The puck drops tonight at 7pm EST with the Pens back on the ice tomorrow night at PPG Paint Arena against Utah.
