The Pittsburgh Pirates today ended the rehab assignment of left-handed pitcher Ryan Borucki and reinstated him to the active roster from the injured list.
Borucki, who was placed on the 15-day injured list on June 21 with low back inflammation, recorded a combined 1.23 ERA (7.1ip/1er) and 10 strikeouts in seven appearances (one start) on rehab with Low-A Bradenton and Triple-A Indianapolis.
Right-handed pitcher Thomas Harrington has been recalled from Indianapolis. This is Harrington’s second stint with the Pirates this season (also April 1-9). Harrington, who is the No. 5-rated Pirates prospect by MLB Pipeline, went 7-8 with a 5.48 ERA (90.1ip/55er) in 19 appearances (18 starts) this season with Indianapolis. He also posted a 3-0 record and 3.75 ERA (24.0ip/10er) in five starts during the month of July.
Right-handed pitcher Kyle Nicolas has been recalled from Indianapolis. This is Nicolas’ third stint with the Pirates this season (also April 11-May 3 and June 3-10). Nicolas went 2-2 with five saves, a 3.79 ERA (35.2ip/15er) and 50 strikeouts in 30 appearances (one start) this year with Indianapolis.
Infielder Jared Triolo has also been recalled from Indianapolis. Triolo was a member of Pittsburgh’s Opening Day roster before being optioned to Triple-A on July 11. Triolo played in a total of 15 games for Indianapolis while reaching base safely in each of his last 12 games prior to being promoted back to the big leagues today.
There are now 37 players on the 40-man roster.
