The Prosecution and Defense rested their cases in Day Two of the McElhattan murder trial.
Witnesses from the prosecution testified that 42-year-old Thomas McElhattan had lied to his wife about his affair with the victim, Rebecca Hayes, keeping it secret from Hayes’ boyfriend, his own stepson.
The forensic pathologist testified that Hayes was shot five times at close range, each shot would have been fatal on their own.
The jury watched footage of McElhattan’s Police interrogation, where he stated that he shot her because he was “not feeling well. {I was} Just fed up.”
The defense immediately rested their case without calling any witnesses.
The jury’s verdict will be read Tuesday.
