Gypsy moths are back on the Allegheny National Forest and federal officials are developing plans to fight them.
The forest service is teaming up with private foresters and the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to conduct gypsy moth egg mass surveys. Preliminary results show notable egg mass numbers in oak forests north of Route 59.
The forest service hopes to have an aerial insecticide treatment as soon as next April.
