Francie Ambuske and Kristen Tim were honored by the United Way of the Braford Area this afternoon with the Red Feather, and Excellence in Representation awards, respectively.
Ambuske, who is the Director of Development for the Bradford Hospital Foundation, has been actively involved in the United Way since the 80s, created the annual Business Blitz in 1983 and was the first female campaign chair, heading up the 1986-87 appeal.
During her talk, Ambuske praised Kristen Tim, who is the executive director of CASA of McKean County, for seeing needs in the community and addressing them.
Tim, who has only been in Bradford a couple of years, used a quote from Lily Tomlin to start her remarks. Tomlin said, “I always wondered why somebody didn’t do something about that. Then I realized I was somebody.”
She ended by telling the audience members that it is their excellence in representation of Bradford, Pennsylvania, and McKean County that allowed her to stand before them and participate, being some body doing some thing.
During the luncheon United Way Executive Director Mandi Wilton Davis announced that Heather Bell will be next year’s campaign chairperson.
