A Bradford man is accused stealing money from a store, evidence from a previous crime, and money from a donation jar for a local family in crisis that was on the store’s counter.
Police were called to the Chestnut Street Uni-Mart, where they looked at surveillance video showing Gregory Benavidez going into the store at 1:10 a.m. Saturday with Brandon Benjamin. Benjamin distracted the clerk while Benavidez snuck behind the counter, stole money from the drawers and the donation jar, then took an envelope containing a flash drive that was clearly marked “police evidence.”
Benavidez was taken into custody at his home on Sunday, when he told police he intentionally burned and destroyed the flash drive.
He’s n McKean County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail.
