A former Cattaraugus County couple has pleaded guilty to animal neglect after more than 600 mistreated animals were found on their farm earlier this year.
Donald and Bonnie George had horses, sheep, goats, dogs and other animals on the Farmersville property that weren’t being fed or sheltered adequately.
The couple has been ordered to pay nearly $20,000 in restitution to the Cattaraugus County SPCA; attend at least one session of the animal abuse awareness course offered by the Erie County SPCA and follow any recommendations; surrender all rights to the 600 animals that were seized; register with the Cattaraugus County Animal Abuse Registry; and not own or care for any animals for a year.
District Attorney Lori Rieman says arrangements are being made to adopt the animals.
