The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission says a project that will put nearly 100 miles of gas pipeline from McKean County to Erie County would cause no significant impact, provided proposed and recommended mitigation measures are taken.
National Fuel and Empire Pipeline proposed the Northern Access project two years ago. FERC issued the favorable environmental assessment this week.
Northern Access would include about 97 miles of 24-inch diameter pipeline from Sergeant Township in McKean County to the existing Porterville Compressor Station in the Town of Elma in Erie County, NY.
Seneca Resources has a long-term binding agreement with National Fuel and Empire for 100 percent of the transportation capacity.
The deadline for public comment on the environmental assessment is Aug. 26.
