A Bradford man is facing charges after his baby swallowed a morphine pill he left on a table and nearly died last month.
29-year-old Casey Neely and the baby’s mother, who police did not identify, were given drug screen after the baby was taken by ambulance to BRMC, and they both tested positive for illegal narcotics, according to papers filed in District Judge Rich Luther’s office.
That’s when Neely admitted to CYS delegate that the 13-month-girl may have picked up a 60 mg morphine pill he left on a desk. He said he got distracted while making a snack for the kids and that’s when she could have gotten it from the desk.
Neely also told police he couldn’t find the morphine pill and suspected the baby swallowed it, but didn’t tell ambulance or hospital personnel about it until after a drug screen on the little girl came back positive for opiates.
Neely is free on $20,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in Central Court next week.
