Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen has been voted the National League
Player of the Month for August.
In 27 games last month, McCutchen hit .348 (32-for-92) with five home runs, 19 RBI and
18 runs scored. He ranked third among qualifying NL leaders in hitting and slugging percentage
(.609), while posting the League’s second-best on-base percentage (.470). The five-time NL All-
Star clubbed seven doubles and a triple, while swiping two bases. McCutchen’s 56 total bases were
tied for the eighth-most in the NL last month.
