National Fuel Gas plans to raise its rate by 2.4 percent effective Saturday.
The average bill of a typical residential customer would go from $57 to $59.
National Fuel says the main reason for the adjustment is reduced refunds associated with pipeline capacity. Low market prices for natural gas are continuing due in large part to the increasing production of Marcellus Shale gas. Nearly all of the gas consumed by National Fuel utility customers comes from Northeast-produced shale gas.
